Swedish Massage or Relaxation Massage

Swedish or relaxation massage is the most common, and I would say, well known body technique performed today in western massage. It is also the basis for all western massage modalities. Swedish massage is made to relax the entire body by using long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Kneading, vibration, friction, petrissage, and effleurage are also styles of movement used in swedish massage. Using light to firm pressure, I manipulate the muscles and joints, invigorating the body by stimulating circulation and range of motion. Relieving muscular tension while promoting relaxation. This treatment can also decrease levels of the stress hormone cortisol while increasing lymphocytes and the immune cells in the body.

Deep Tissue or Therapeutic Massage

Deep tissue or therapeutic massage is similar to swedish massage, but I use firmer to deeper pressure. My focus is on the deepest layers of the muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia. I slowly work my way in, not to shock the body, which allows me to relieve chronic knots and tightness without irritation or severe discomfort.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release massage is a technique that releases tension in the fascia due to trauma, posture, or inflammation. Points of restriction in the fascia can place a great deal of pressure on the nerves and muscles causing chronic pain, I use long stretching strokes to manipulate the fascia and relieve the tension. Facilitating improved posture, range of motion, and severely decreases pain.
